The New Holland T7 Methane Power LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) tractor is an alternative fuel tractor that offers sustainability benefits for farming operations. The tractor utilizes LNG to extend fuel autonomy compared to other methane-powered tractors, matching the performance of diesel tractors with its 270hp engine. This tractor can be powered by methane harvested from livestock waste, which can then be converted into fuel grade LNG.
Compared to diesel, LNG reduces carbon monoxide by 80%, non-methane hydrocarbons by 90%, particulate matter by 98%, and nitrous oxide by 62%. When the T7 is run on bioLNG, it can reduce CO2 emissions by 878 tons annually. Since methane burns more cleanly, there is no need for a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, allowing for extra room to be allocated for fuel storage.
