AGCO has now clearly established Fendt as its premium equipment line, and Fendt tractors incorporate the most sophisticated, high-end features of any AGCO brand.
In 2021 AGCO’s Fendt brand had a lot of news to talk about for the 2022 model year. The updates introduced then in its high-horsepower wheeled tractor group delivered what the brand called “unprecedented fuel efficiency, uptime and agronomic benefits”. The Fendt 900 Gen7 Series tractors, with five models from 296 to 415 horsepower, and 1000 Gen3 Series tractors, with four models from 396 to 517 horsepower, made their North American debut at the U.S. Farm Progress show in August that year.
A key feature introduced on those tractors is the FendtONE operator station. It provides individually customizable control arrangement for the tractor and implements to meet the specific needs of the operator.
The 1000 Series uses two separate hydraulic pumps, with a maximum combined flow rate of 430 l/m. And the tractor can supply two different pressure and flow rates simultaneously from each one. A self-cleaning air filter system uses on-board compressed air to periodically blow out the filter, extending filter life by up to 15 times compared to standard intakes.
The wheeled 900 and 1000 Series tractors get power from six-cylinder MAN engines (a 9-litre in the 900 Series and a 12.4 in the 1000s). Equipped with the Fendt iD low engine speed concept that works with the tractor management system (TMS) and Fendt’s signature VarioDrive continuously variable transmission, the tractors have a maximum engine operating speed of just 1700 RPM. That, according to Fendt, means less fuel consumption and reduced wear on engine components.
The high horsepower, two-track tractor designs originally introduced under the Challenger brand were made available to Canadian farmers wearing Fendt colours in 2020. There are now four models in the 511 to 673 horsepower range in the 1100 Vario MT Series, powered by a 15.2 litre engine; and there are three others in the smaller 380 to 431 horsepower 900 Vario MT Series, which use the seven-cylinder 9.8 litre diesel engine.
In October, AGCO introduced a completely new line of engines, the CORE models, which the brand says will eventually be configured to run on a variety of alternative fuels. They use what AGCO calls a “simplified design” with fewer moving parts than previous engines. The first CORE engine to see production is the 7.5 litre, which can deliver up to 300 horsepower. It delivers maximum torque at just 1,300 r.p.m. AGCO says other CORE engine sizes will be introduced in the future. The first tractors to get a CORE engine under their hoods are the Fendt 700 Gen7 line.
Fendt offers four different maintenance agreement packages that can cover just regular maintenance services, or right up to the Platinum complete coverage package for wheeled tractors wth Fendt Connect that includes repair costs and even supplying a replacement machine when needed to limit downtime.
