Allis Chalmers, a renowned brand in the farming industry, has a rich history dating back to the 1840s in Milwaukee. Having entered the farm equipment business in 1914, Allis Chalmers quickly established itself as a pioneer in the field. Over the years, the brand introduced numerous innovative advancements in farm equipment, making it one of the largest and most diverse manufacturers in North America. However, with changing economic times, Allis Chalmers faced challenges and eventually sold its farm equipment division to K-H-Deutz AG of Germany in 1985. Subsequently, Deutz sold the division to AGCO Inc. AGCO expanded the farm equipment business, primarily in Europe and South America, eventually earning a place on the Fortune 500 list in 2004. While AGCO has retired the Allis brand itself, it continues to manufacture tractors under other well-known names like Challenger, Massey-Ferguson, Fendt, and Valtra. Despite the brand retirement, Allis Chalmers enthusiasts can still connect on the Unofficial Allis Forum, keeping the legacy and knowledge alive.
