Scott Garvey takes in Ag in Motion 2026: Part 4 - Past, present and future

August 06, 2026

This year’s Ag in Motion included a few examples of vintage tractors by exhibitors and those that came to participate in what's become an Ag in Motion favourite: the vintage tractor pull event.

Video summary

Former machinery editor Scott Garvey once again spent time in the sound truck with Steffes Auctioneers’ Jason Leblanc to emcee the vintage tractor pull event.

The antique tractor pull at Ag in Motion has become a crowd favourite, with pulls running each afternoon through the three days of the event. This year was no exception, with several vintage tractor brands including Case, Oliver, Massey-Harris, McCormick and John Deere represented.

But there were some classic tractors on display at exhibits elsewhere on the Showgrounds. Versatile brought two examples of the first model of tractor ever produced by the brand. The D-100 and G-100, gas and diesel-engined versions offering 100 horsepower. Production of them began in 1966. Seeing these machines alongside current production models allowed a younger generation to see just how farm tractor design and size has come in the last few decades.

There was also a restored Big Bud tractor on display, shown by Welker Farms, which has shown the restoration process of the tractor in numerous posts on its YouTube channel. The farm has a large social media following.

Scott wraps up his three-day visit to Ag in Motion 2026.
