About Us
Incorporated in 1978 D.B. Murray Ltd was a full line Massey Ferguson dealership with a strong customer base in Massey combines. In 1989 we were awarded the John Deere franchise, and are now a complete agriculture and consumer products dealer. On April 1, 2008, we celebrated 30 years in business. Our 2008 JD day had 572 guests, the largest ever.
The original Murray Machinery dealership began in the early 1900's in Lyleton, MB. Andrew Baird Murray started the original dealership under the name A.B. Murray & Sons. In 1928, son Ted Murray opened the Deloraine, MB. dealership and in 1933 Robert Murray opened the Melita, MB. dealership. It became AB Murray & Sons with three locations to serve you. In 1954, Robert Murray sold the Melita operation to his son Alan Bernard Murray. Bernie sold Massey Ferguson, Volkswagon and Chrysler out of the main street location. In 1978 he sold the Massey Ferguson dealership to Dwayne Murray, who operates the dealership today with his son Ryan Murray under the name D.B. Murray Ltd. Today Dwayne Murray, General Manager/President and Ryan Murray, Sales Manager/Partner make up the fourth and now fifth generation Murray farm machinery dealership.
In 2000 we were awarded the Managers Club award, which is in recognition of excellence in customer satisfaction, market coverage, and operational performance. In 2008 we still perform in the top 15% of the total Deere dealers.
The dealership philosophy is to service the equipment that we sell in our trade area with the best parts and service that we can provide. We want to help our customers be profitable, viable farms, help them grow there business by selling quality farm equipment and the best service back up that we can offer. We will look after the equipment while our farm customers look after their business. D.B. Murray Ltd is located at the junction of highway 3 & 83, approximately 33 km north of the US border and 37 km east of the Saskatchewan border.
Melita, Manitoba: D.B. Murray Ltd. is located in a modern progressive centre in an area producing grain, livestock, oil, and mined aggregates. Tourism and recreation, as well as health and education play an ever-increasing role in the community. The town and surrounding Rural Municipality are both aggressively promoting the community as an alternative location for industry in Manitoba.
As of October 1, 2008 we have completed our 6,400 sq. ft. shop addition. With the new addition to our service shop, we have a drive-thru wash bay that will allow us to wash two large combines or tractors at the same time. It also gives us more setup area for air drills, combines and large 4WD tractors. Throughout the month of November the addition allowed us to have 12 greenlight combines being serviced at the same time plus our tractor work. We now have a total of 30,000 sq. ft. of sales, parts and service area. With this addition, we are again making a commitment to our customers, the Town of Melita and the southwest corner of Manitoba.
